12 meritorious students get stipends in Rajshahi University

A total of 12 meritorious students from four departments of Rajshahi University (RU) were given stipends as recognition of their significant achievement in their respective academic fields.

Each of the scholarship-winners was given Taka 5,000 and a certificate on behalf of the Prof ABM Hossain and Prof Prof Shahanara Hossain Foundation.

The stipend-winners are: Sumaiya Sultana, Sanzida Nawrin and Kaniz Fatema from the Department of Economics, Adila Akter Nipa, Badsha Rahman and Nigar Sultana from the Department of History, Nur Hossain, Tamzida Sultana and Ahsan Ullah from the Department of Islamic History and Culture and Ferdousi Akter, Chayan Kumar Mondal and Ashraful Islam from the Department of Geology and Mining.

RU authority has arranged the stipend-giving ceremony at Senate Bhaban today largely attended by the teachers, students and others concerned.

Pro-vice-chancellors of the university Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam and Prof Hummayun Kabir, Treasurer Prof Obayedur Rahman Pramanik and Arts Faculty Dean Prof Fazlul Haque addressed the ceremony.

Congratulating the award-winners for their achievements, Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam hoped that they will contribute a lot towards the progress and welfare of the country and the nation as well in the days to come.

He also stressed the need for more research on arts, commerce and social sciences in addition to the science, engineering, earth science and biology for the overall success of the nation.
