Feni: A total of 110 families in six upazilas of the district, who were badly affected by the recent flood in the region, will get new houses from the post-flood rehabilitation special housing project, district administration sources said. The initiative aims to provide relief and stability to those who lost their homes due to the devastating floods.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the list of beneficiaries has already been finalized by the district and upazila level committees. Of the total houses, 35 will be constructed in Sadar upazila, while Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya upazilas will each receive 60 houses. Sonagazi will have five new houses, and Daganbhuiyan upazila is set to receive 10. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Abhishek Das confirmed the allocation details for the housing project.
The project will feature houses of two sizes, 492 sq ft and 500 sq ft, with a total construction cost amounting to Taka 18,35,000. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Md. Raihan Mehboo
b stated that the Bangladesh Army is tasked with implementing the project, with construction expected to commence within the next two weeks.
In response to the August floods, which fully damaged 1,718 houses and partially damaged 6,941 in the district, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saiful Islam assured that the affected families will also receive government assistance in phases. Concurrently, repair work on roads, bridges, and culverts damaged by the floods has already begun, signaling a comprehensive recovery effort for the district.
