Dhaka: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today announced that the government will appoint 10,000 more constables alongside 180 police sergeants in the vacant posts at the quickest possible time. 'We will appoint 10,000 more constables quickly with approval of the Finance Ministry,' he stated.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Home Minister made these remarks while speaking to journalists after emerging from a cabinet meeting in the Bangladesh Secretariat. He emphasized the need to fill the 180 vacant sergeant posts as part of efforts to strengthen law enforcement. The recruitment process will be expedited to ensure vacancies are filled without delay.
The Home Minister also mentioned that sub inspectors will be appointed, and assistant superintendents of police (ASPs) will be recruited through the Public Service Commission (PSC). Furthermore, he has instructed the reconstitution of law and order committees at the Upazila and District levels.
