1.4 Million People Benefit from Government Legal Aid Services

Dhaka: A total of 1,418,840 individuals have benefited from legal aid services provided at the government’s expense through the National Legal Aid Services Organization (NLASO). This significant milestone, covering legal aid services from 2009 to February 2026, was highlighted in a report available on the organization’s official website.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the report reveals that legal support was extended in 460,297 cases to financially disadvantaged and underprivileged justice seekers during this period. The report further details that 30,395 individuals received assistance through the Supreme Court Legal Aid Office, 1,158,630 people were assisted via legal aid offices across 64 districts, and 30,009 individuals benefited from labor legal aid cells in Dhaka and Chattogram.



In addition, the national toll-free legal aid helpline call center provided legal services to 199,806 people. These services are offered under the Legal Aid Act to support financially insolvent and underprivileged citizens in their pursuit of justice. The operations of the organization are conducted under the supervision of the Ministry of Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
