Xiaomi is renowned for offering great value for money devices. The latest Xiaomi 11T Pro appears to add a layer to it. Apparently, Xiaomi is looking for its next success story. The Xiaomi 11T Pro has just been released on 15th September in Europe as part of the Chinese company’s new T line of smartphones. It offers high-end specifications at mid-range pricing, but it is towards the upper end of that category.
Design
With dimensions of 164.1 x 76.9 x 8.8 mm, Xiaomi 11T Pro appears as a large phone to use comfortably, especially for people with average-sized hands. Weighing 204g, this phone might be difficult to hold with one hand too.
The phone has a large screen area. A fingerprint capturer is located on its right side. Some users may struggle to use it. The responsive scanner easily unlocks the phone with a simple touch of the thumb.
The volume rocker is located above the scanner. The phone features a USB-C connection but no 3.5mm jack, so those who want wired music will need to use an adapter.
The camera bulge on the rear is a great improvement from the previous Mi 10T Pro, which stood out like a mountain range on the old phone. However, it looks much less imposing on the 11T Pro. However, the phone’s back is a fingerprint magnet that acts as a holding.
In addition to that, using the smartphone for any length of time will transform the smooth plastic, which comes in colors like white, blue, or grey, into a patchwork of smudges and fingerprints.
Display
The Xiaomi 11T Pro’s screen is probably one of the most significant quality degradations from the Mi 11. While the Mi 11’s display was one of its major selling points, Xiaomi seems to put concentration on cameras with the 11T Pro. Still, the screen here is quite enough for the task at hand.
It has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display, which is somewhat smaller than the Mi 11’s. Unlike that phone, the screen hasn’t any curve at the corners, and the punch-hole for the front camera is in the top-center rather than the top-left.
The display will provide a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, which is typical for most phones of any price. It will be enough for most activities since most games and streaming services support that resolution.
The device also boasts a rapid 120Hz refresh rate, which equals the Mi 11. But it falls short of the 144Hz of the Mi 10T series. 11T Pro’s display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Rear Cameras
On the practical tests, it was discovered that 11T Pro’s 108MP (f/1.75) primary camera worked similarly to the one on the Mi 11 — it produces great-looking photos in well-lit situations, with excellent contrast, bright colors, and plenty of detail. By default, this camera employs ‘pixel binning,’ a technique in which the pixels are merged to produce fewer but bigger images, resulting in 27MP images.
Users can switch to a high-resolution mode that utilizes the whole 108MP sensor. Pictures that are taken in this mode feature super-high-resolution, giving more leeway for future editing. Yet pictures do not collect as much color information per pixel. In low-light situations. That’s why the 11T Pro has harsher edges due to noise in images, even though pixel binning helps to reduce this.
In addition to the primary sensor, Xiaomi 11T Pro comes with an 8 MP (f/2.2) ultrawide sensor featuring 120˚field-of-view. It also has a 5 MP (f/2.4) telephoto macro lens.
The rear cameras have the capacity to record videos at up to 8K pixel resolution at 30 frames per second.
Front Camera
The 16MP (f/2.5) front camera is well worth the quality. The contrast delivered by the portrait mode is striking. It seems as if the shadows and highlights have been adjusted to make the person stand out more.
In these photographs, the background blur effect performs an excellent job of distinguishing people from their backgrounds, but it sometimes blurred the borders of the body as well. With the front camera, the users can shoot 1080p footage at 30fps.
Performance, Software, and UI
The CPU is built with an octa-core processor featuring 2.84GHz clock speed at maximum. The Xiaomi 11T Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 888 (5nm) chipset. Although this is not the most powerful Android chip available, it is still a very strong processor that can make the phone swift to use and excellent for gaming. The graphic unit bears the Adreno 660 GPU.
Gaming felt relatively snappy on the Xiaomi 11T Pro. The strong cheapest indicates that the phone is capable of handling maximum graphics settings smoothly. The phone is capable of processing maximum graphics activities with ease. However, prolonged gaming sessions may cause the overheating problem, affecting performance, although such situations are barely reported.
Like all other Xiaomi phones, the new 11T Pro runs Android with the company’s own skin, MIUI. The smartphone comes with Android 11 based MIUI 12.5. The skin is polarizing, and it’s simple to see why. It comes pre-installed with a slew of apps, including eBay, Linked In, and even AliExpress.
Xiaomi 11T Pro’s variants are: 8/128GB, 8/256GB, 12/256GB. The RAM power varies from 8 to 12 GB. On the other hand, the internal storage capacity ranges up to 256GB starting from 128GB. The users can pick the right variant depending on their specific needs.
Battery and Charging
Xiaomi Mi 11T Pro might not meet users’ expectations. Thankfully, the phone is provided with a 5,000mAh battery. It is certainly large for a phone. It’s probable that the large display, fast refresh rate, power-hungry processor, and 5G modem all drain the battery.
