Village headman killed in Cox’s Bazar

A village headman of a remote hilly area was killed by miscreants at Bangdoba village in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar Saturday midnight.

The deceased was identified as Ali Ahmed of Bangdoba village.

Quoting local people, Arup Kumar Chowdhury, inspector of Ramu Police Station, said a group of miscreants swooped on Ali Ahmed, who had been vocal against destroying forests in Ramu, around 12 am while he was returning home and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to a local hospital morgue.

However, efforts are on to arrest those involved in the murder, said inspector Arup.
