Youths sometimes move with an unusual speed when it comes to love, and get married keeping their families in the dark that lead to ugly family fights.
Nasirul Islam, 21, son of Khalilur Rahman and Keyamoni, 18, daughter of Karimul Islam of Bhangbari village in Ranishankoil upazila of Thakurgaon district did the same thing, inviting troubles for themselves.
Villagers said the youth was tied to a tree and tortured brutally allegedly by his in-laws for marrying the girl.
The incident took place on Monday but it came to light on Thursday as a video clip of the incident went viral on social media, sparking off huge criticisms and prompting the police to take legal steps.

Nasirul and Keyamoni had long been in a relationship and one day they decided to get married. And then they moved with supersonic speed.
On September 9, they got married through an affidavit without the consent of their families. After the marriage, they took a hazardous journey and went all the way to Narayanganj.
When Keyamoni’s family members came to know about, they turned furious, particularly her mother, and started mounting pressure on Nasirul’s family to bring their daughter back. As a trick, the villagers said, they promised to accept the marriage.
Convinced with their sweet talks, Nasirul’s family brought the duo back, and they started living in their respective houses. Things looked to be normal. Nasirul was happy and decided to visit the in-law’s house.
On Monday, when Nasirul was going to Keyamoni’s house, some members of his in-law’s family picked him up, tied to a tree and beat him up mercilessly, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, he was taken to Ranishankoil Upazila Health Complex from where he was shifted to Dinajpur Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
Meanwhile, Nasirul’s father Khalilur Rahman lodged a written complaint with Ranishankoil Police Station against four people.
Following the complaint, police arrested Keyamoni’s mother, Shirina Akhter, said SM Zahid Iqbal, officer-in-charge of Ranishankoil Police Station.
