A teenager on Wednesday was arrested for allegedly raping a 7-year-old girl in Chattogram’s Karnaphuli.
The arrested teenager’s identity is being shielded by UNB as he is a juvenile, but he is aged 16 and from Daulatpur village of the upazila.The incident occurred at Rafiq Colony in Daulatpur village on Tuesday evening.
According to the locals, the girl was home alone when the perpetrator, her next-door neighbour, entered the house and raped her.
After the child informed her mother of the incident, the accused was first apprehended by locals.
Police arrested him on Wednesday afternoon after the locals handed him over. Karnaphuli Police Station OC Mohammad Dulal Mahmud said the victim child meanwhile, was sent to the One Stop Center of Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
The arrested teenager was being interrogated, the OC added.
