A teenage girl died falling off the roof of a four-storey building in the city’s Hazaribagh Borhanpur area Suday.
The deceased was identified as Jhumur Akhter (13) a fifth-grade student of Hazaribagh Happy Times School and daughter of Md. Russell, a cable operator in the area.
The incident occured at around 5:30 pm when she was playing with other teenagers on the roof of the four-storey tenement building.
Sabbir Hossain, a cousin of the deceased who brought her to the hospital, said that while playing with others she inadvertently fell off the roof and was seriously injured.
She was first taken to a local clinic and later to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMRCH) at around 6:30 pm where the doctor on duty declared her dead.
Md Bachchu Mia, a police inspector at the DMRC police camp, said that the body has been kept in the hospital morgue for autopsy.
The incident has been reported to the concerned police station, he added.
