RAB apprehends trio with over 65,000 Yaba pills

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three alleged drug dealers along with 65,105 yaba pills hidden inside Betel leaf (paan) from Shyampur area of the capital on early Sunday.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Ayub, 35, Abdus Shukkur, 54, and Md Amir Hossain, 65.

The elite force had secret information that a group of organized drug dealers were stationed in the area adjacent to Postagola Fire Service under Shyampur Police Station with a huge consignment of contraband Yaba pills brought from the border districts hidden inside betel leaves.

Based on their information, an operational team of RAB-10 conducted a drive in the area just after midnight on Saturday (Sunday on the clock). Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the 4-5 drug dealers tried to flee the scene but three of them were caught by the elite force members, said ASP (media) Imran Khan of RAB.

Based on their information, the RAB members recovered 65, 105 yaba tablets, worth around Tk 1.95 crore searching the heap of betel leaves, he said.

During preliminary interrogation, they revealed that they are professional drug dealers. For some time now, they have been collecting Yaba tablets and other narcotics from different parts of Cox’s Bazar and supplying them to different parts of the country, including the capital Dhaka.

Law enforcers said there is an existing drug case in the name of Abdus Shukkur with Patenga Model Police Station.
