Puneeth Rajkumar: A Popular Benevolent Short-Lived Actor in the Kannada Film Industry

Puneeth Rajkumar is a popular star in South Indian films. Besides acting and singing, he is well known to fans and colleagues for his golden heart. But Kannada movie lovers got a chance to see his works for a very short time. On October 29, 2021, this talented actor died at the age of 46. Let’s find out more about this benevolent actor.

Puneeth Rajkumar: A successful actor in Kannada films

Lohit alias Puneeth Rajkumar, the youngest child of Dr. Rajkumar and Parvathamma, was born on March 17, 1975. At the age of only six months, director V.Samashekar brought him to the big screen through his movie ‘Premada Kanike’. At the age of one, he was seen in the movie ‘Sanadi Appanna’. When he was seven, Puneeth won the Karnataka State Film Award for best child actor for his role in the superhit movie ‘Hosa Bilaku’. In 1985, he won the National Film Award for best child actor for his playing Innocent Ramu in ‘Bettada Hubhu’.

In 2002, Lohit appeared in front of the audience as a hero in the movie ‘Appu’. For his outstanding success in this movie, he was known as Appu to all of his fans. In 2007, he was awarded the title of ‘Power Star of Sandalwood’ for his role in the movie ‘Ajay’. In the same year, he won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance in ‘Arasu’. He won the Best Actor award at the Karnataka State Film Event for the 2006 film ‘Milna’.

Superstar Puneeth used all the earnings from his singing for various social welfare activities. He also regularly donated to several Kannada medium schools. 26 orphanages, 16 old age homes, and 19 gaushalas were run with his help.

The benevolent filmstar used to help thousands of female students through his ‘Shaktidhama’, a charity organization for women.

In 2019, he donated Rs. 5 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to help flood victims in North Karnataka. During the Corona epidemic of 2020, Puneeth donated Rs 5 million to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to fight the deadly virus. Even Puneeth Rajkumar used to help many filmmakers who lived inhumane lives because of Corona.

Like his father, he also donated his eyes posthumously.

The sudden demise of Puneeth Rajkumar silenced people of all walks of life in the Indian subcontinent.

An emotional atmosphere was created in the central jail of Parappana Agrahara on October 31 at 11 am. All the prisoners lit candles in memory of Appu and expressed their grief.

There were three people who died of a heart attack in a row on hearing the news of Puneeth’s death. One is Muniyappa, 30, a resident of Maruru village in Hanuma taluk of Chamarajanagar. Second is 33-year-old Parshurama Devannavar, a day laborer from Sindholi village in Belagavir. And the last one is Prasad, a 50-year-old man from Doddebagilu village in Malavalli taluk of Mandia. There have also been cases of suicide attempts among young fans.
