Liton smashes a ton to propel Bangladesh to 276 in first ODI

Wicketkeeper-batsman Liton Das hits fourth ton in the first match of the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe on Friday at Harare.

Riding on his will-built 102 off 114 balls with eight fours, Bangladesh posted 276 for nine in 50 overs. Afif Hossain is the second-highest runs getter scoring 35-ball 45.

Zimbabwe opted to bowl first after winning the toss. They made a good start scalping four wickets inside 74 runs. Bangladesh were stuttering after Tamim Iqbal suffered a duck and Shakib Al Hasan (19), Mohammad Mithun (19) and Mosaddek Hossain failed to (5) do well.

Blessing Muzarabani took two of the first four wickets and put Bangladesh under immense pressure. But In the fifth wicket stand, Liton and Mahmudullah Riyad added 93 runs on the board which helped the Tigers rebuild.

Mahmudullah fell prey to Luke Jongwe for 33, but Liton was firm on the other end of the wicket. Liton and Afif added 40 runs in the sixth wicket partnership.

In the last 10 overs, Bangladesh added 77 runs losing four wickets including Afif and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (26) falling in two successive deliveries of Luke Jongwe.

For Zimbabwe, Luke Jongwe bagged three wickets while Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava took two wickets each.
