State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said that all possible assistance will be provided to those on board in the launch fire in Jhalakathi.
The minister said this while visiting the injured at the launch of ‘MV Abhijan-10’ at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Friday.
Such a tragic accident has never happened before at launch, he said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is very sincere about waterways development. Under her leadership the waterways will be more safe and secured, the minister added.
Earlier, the state minister visited the injured at Jhalakathi Hospital and inquired about their treatment.
Meanwhile, the Shipping Ministry and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority have formed two separate committees to probe the fire. The ministry’s panel has been asked to submit its report within three days.
