The government has reconstituted the community clinic health support trustee board keeping Prof Dr Syed Modasser Ali as its chair, aiming to strengthen healthcare services further for the grassroots people.

The 15-member board of trustees was reconstituted for the next three years, according to article 9 (1) of the Community Clinic Support Trust Act 2018.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has recently endorsed a proposal for the formation of the new board of trustees making her former health adviser Dr Syed Modasser Ali as its chairman and Dr Makhduma Nargis vice chairperson, said sources at the Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday.

Sheikh Hasina’s government set up community clinics across the country to take primary healthcare services to the doorsteps of the grassroots people, including the disadvantaged communities, which became the role model for the health sector.

In 2018, the government enacted the Community Clinic Support Trust Act 2018 for ensuring the participation of rural marginalised people in coordinated primary healthcare and family welfare services. A full-fledged 15-member board of trustees was formed then for a three-year tenure from November 4, 2018 to November 03, 2021 under the law.

Dr Syed Modasser Ali was the chairman of the previous board as well.
