BCL Cricket: Central Zone require 192 runs against South Zone on final day

Walton Central Zone requires 192 runs with seven wickets in hand on the 5th and the last day 0f the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL)’2021 final match against BCB South Zone at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

BCB South Zone requires only 7 wickets on the final day to win the title.

BCB South Zone, having 387 runs in the first innings, resumed the 2nd innings on Wednesday with overnight total 43 for 1 and folded the innings at 268 runs in 75.5 overs.

Besides, night watch batter Amite Hasan, who was in batting with 22 runs, finally scored 71-ball 41 runs hitting six boundaries while national coloured Nasum Ahmed (41), Mehedi Hasan (24) were the other notable contributors for the BCB South Zone.

Pacer Abu Hider Rony made the major damage in South Zone innings grabbing five wickets for 78 runs.

Chasing target of 218 runs, Walton Central Zone with huge first innings total of 483 runs, opened the 2nd innings on the 4th day (Wednesday) and scored 26 for 3 in nine overs at the end of the day to require another 192 runs in the 5th and final day.

One down Soumya Sarkar and number five Salman Hosain were in batting with 8 and 5 runs respectively.

Nasum Ahmed grabbed two wickets without conceding any run while Farhad Reza took the other wickets giving away 14 runs.

Earlier on Tuesday, right-handed batter Mohammad Mithun notched up his maiden double-century (206) hundred in the First-class cricket, the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) and Shuvagata Hom scored a century (116), for Walton Central Zone at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
