Bangladesh is reaping the benefits of the prime minister’s honesty, courage and foresight, said her Private Industry and Investment Affairs Adviser Salman F Rahman Saturday.

“When Sheikh Hasina came to power in 2009, the per capita income in Bangladesh was only $450. Later, after 11 years, the number has reached $2,227,” he added.

Salman was addressing an exchange of view programme with IT experts and entrepreneurs of Nawabganj and Dohar and a programme on the inauguration of connectivity in 22 unions of the upazilas under the Info Sarkar-3 project of the ICT Division in Nawabganj.

State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak also spoke at the event.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has bridged the gap between cities and villages, he said. “In the last 12 years, Sheikh Hasina transformed from a poor state into a dignified middle-income one.”

“Every house in Nawabganj is now lit up with electricity; freelancers want high-speed internet, teachers want more computer labs. But 12 years ago, the people of this area demanded electricity connection, road repairs and the paving of unpaved roads,” Palak added.
