Bangladesh booth steals limelight at Seoul Int’l Tourism Fair 2021

The Embassy of Bangladesh actively participated in the Seoul International Tourism Fair (SITF) – held during June 24-27 at the Convention and Exhibition Center.

SITF, formerly known as Korea Travel and Tourism Fair (KOTFA), is the largest international tourism fair in South Korea. Twenty-six countries took part in this year’s tourism fair.

Bangladesh has been participating in this fair since 2012. However, due to the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism of Bangladesh could not participate in the fair this year. So, the Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul represented the country.

On June 24, SITF Chair Shin Joong-mok inaugurated the fair. Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea Abida Islam, envoys of other participating countries, vice-president of Korea Tourism Association, CEOs and other dignitaries were present at the event.

After the opening ceremony, Shin Joong-mok, ambassadors and other dignitaries visited various pavilions and booths of the fair. When they visited the Bangladesh booth, Ambassador Abida Islam welcomed them.

The Bangladesh ambassador presented traditional handicrafts of the country to Shin Joong-mok. The visiting dignitaries appreciated the Bangladeshi handicrafts.

During this four-day long fair, about 400 Koreans and foreigners visited the Bangladesh booth and expressed interest in Bangladesh’s tourist destinations.

Promotional leaflets, posters, brochures on attractive tourist places, and traditional handicrafts of Bangladesh were distributed among the visitors.

Moreover, documentaries on the attractive tourist destinations of Bangladesh and the country’s tradition and culture were screened during the fair.

Many also posed for pictures with mannequins dressed in traditional Bangladeshi costumes at the booth.
