Xiaomi released its Redmi Note 12 series on October 27 in China. This series has 4 models, including Note 12, pro, Pro+, and Explorer Edition. Note 12 is the basic model in the Redmi Note 12 lineup. Although Note 12 serves as a starting point for the Redmi Note 12 series and provides the greatest bargain for certain customers, it is far from a low-end device. It has a few good features with some drawbacks. Let’s take a look at whether Redmi Note 12 can fulfill the expectations of the Xiaomi fans.

Design
The Redmi Note 12 is a masterpiece in this area, as Xiaomi has essentially mastered the art of making its phones seem to be flagships. While choices from manufacturers like Nokia and Motorola make a valiant effort, they tend to have a certain clunky feel that Xiaomi continually avoids with its tiny budget phones.

And except for one aspect, it’s a great screen. With a volume of 95.8%, it shows a complete spectrum of colors in an accurate and brilliant manner and covers 95.4% of the sRGB gamut. Despite using OLED technology, it still has a good 428cd/m2 brightness level, making it legible unless on the brightest of days. Due to OLED technology, contrast is also excellent.
All of this results in a screen that is on par with others in this price range (and several above it), but there is one peculiar aspect. The text on the menus sometimes drags and appears in two locations at once for a little period of time, making the text look as if it can’t keep up with the pace of screen refresh.
Camera
Depending on your perspective, the Redmi Note 12’s inclusion of no less than 2 cameras on the rear is impressive—or too ambitious. There is just a 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor in addition to the wide 48MP primary camera. The main sensor features a 0.8 nichrome lens size.
On paper, everything seems great, but the pudding is the true test, and to stretch the analogy too far, this dessert is noticeably underdone or more accurately, undersaturated.
On the front side, the Note 12 sports an 8MP wide selfie camera featuring an aperture of f/2.0, with a 1/4″ and 1.12µm lens size. The 8MP front-facing camera exhibits the under-saturation issue while taking selfies.

Performance and Software
Things have been going rather well up until now, but they are about to take a turn for the worst.
The scores gave a rather mixed image of the capabilities of the Qualcomm Snapdragon, despite the fact that the Redmi Note 12 feels absolutely quick while surfing the internet and switching between apps. The processor used is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 6nm chipset, and it is accompanied by Adreno 619 GPU.

Battery and Charger

It’s remarkable that after an hour of watching a streaming video with the volume turned down and the brightness turned all the way up, the battery only dropped by five percent despite these extreme conditions.
Because of its low price point, the Redmi Note 12 does not support wireless charging, which is to be anticipated in a device of this kind. On the other hand, the wired 33W charging works quite great, and you can get a full charge on this phone in a little over an hour if you start from zero. Conclusion
Though Note 12, like any other cheap phone, is a negotiated settlement, its design, screen, build quality, battery life, and other common features seem standard. However, its camera quality and general performance are where the users will notice the concessions in the price.
On the whole, Xiaomi’s latest Redmi note 12 can be a good choice for the average day-to-day tasks under the budget range.
