DHAKA, State Minister for Religious Al Haj Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah today said the government awarded work order for constructing 462 model mosques and Islamic Cultural Centres across the country.
The model mosques and Islamic Cultural Centres will be constructed in each district and upazila of the country, he told this at a progress meeting of annual development programmes for 2019-2020 financial year at his ministry conference room.
Abdullah said construction of 560 model mosques and Islamic Cultural Centres is one of the priority projects of the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, the government has floated tenders for construction of 501 model mosques after preparing all formalities, of which work orders have been awarded for 462 mosques, he said.
The state minister, however, said construction works of 280 mosques have been started.
He instructed project directors along with officials concerned for completion of the project as soon as possible.
Sheikh Abdullah said the government has undertaken a project worth of Taka 228 crore to repair 1,812 temples across the country.
Besides, repair works of Dhakeshwari National Temple alongside 199 temples is about to be finish under three projects at Taka 23 crore, he added.
