Weather may remain mainly dry over country

Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places with mainly dry weather and temporary partly cloudy sky, a met release said today.

"Rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and weather may remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country", said the weather forecast valid for next 24 hours from 9 am today,

Mild heat wave is sweeping over the districts of Faridpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Jashore, Chuadanga and Kushtia and it may spread, it said.

Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area as seasonal low lies over South Bay.

Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 37.0 degrees Celsius at Chuadanga while minimum temperature today was 18.8 degree Celsius at Rajarhat.

Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 78 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6:16 PM today and rises 5:46 AM tomorrow in the capital
