Victor Ivy meets rival Sakhawat with sweets

NARAYANGANJ, Dec 23, 2016 (BSS) - Mayor elect of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) Selina Hayat Ivy of ruling Awami League Selina Hayat Ivy today called on rival candidate Sakhawat Hossain Khan with sweets at his Khanpur Kazipara residence a day after her landslide victory in the mayoral polls in the suburban river port town.

Witnesses said Khan and his wife cordially received Ivy as she reached at about 10am and spent there for over one hour when they discussed different issues related to the welfare of the residents of Narayanganj.

Khan, they said, assured Ivy of extending all-out supports in the greater interest of city and its people.

"Sakhawat bhai assured me join his hands with me . . . He said he would extend all necessary supports for the sake of development," Ivy told journalists after coming out of the house at about 11.10 am.

She said they both would work together to uproot the drug peddlers and hooligans or gangsters from Narayanganj.

"Election has victory and defeat . . . But we must work jointly as we are living at the same place," Ivy quoted Sakhawat as saying.

Ivy defeated BNP candidate Sakhawat by over 79,567 votes in the NCC polls yesterday.

She achieved victory by getting 175,611 votes in the polls.
