Kathmandu: The High Court, Patan has issued an order to release on bail former minister Bal Krishna Khand who was put in custody for further trial in case of fake Bhutanese refugee scam. The court issued verdict to release Khand on the bail amount of Rs 3 million on Thursday.
In the order, the bench of justice Krishna Ram Koirala argued that Kathmandu District Court’s decision delivered on November 17 to keep Balkrishna Khand in custody as per Sections 68 and 72 of Criminal Work Procedure, 2074 was not cogent. So, the District Court’s order needs to be scrapped.
Earlier, division bench of justices Prakash Kharel and Janak Pande was split on the verdict, thereby forwarding Khand’s case to be heard by another judge, Koirala.
