Two held with 26 gold bars at HSIA

DHAKA - Customs Intelligence in separate drives arrested two youths with 26 gold bars weighing about three-kg of gold worth about Taka 1.36 crore at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here, police and customs official said.

HM Ahsanul Kabir, assistant commissioner (AC) of the Directorate General of Intelligence and Investigation told BSS that the members of their preventive team of customs arrested Mohammad Mamun Hossain, 32 and Moslem Uddin, 33, at the Green Channel area of the airport at 12.30 am today.

"The customs officials interrogated Mamun for his suspicious movement and later searched his body and luggage where 18 gold bars weighing about 1.8 kg of gold were found. Meanwhile, the airport officials arrested Moslem with eight gold bars." he added.

Mamun arrived here from Malaysia while Moslem was from Mascot-via Chittagong, Kabir said adding, "Two separate cases were filed with Airport Police Station in this connection."
