DHAKA, May 31, 2017 (BSS) - Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed left here for Russia to attend an international economic forum beginning tomorrow.
The minister is attending the three-day Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) at the invitation of Russian Federation Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko, said an official release today.
The SPIEF, sponsored by Russian President Vladimir Putin, mainly aims to address regional and global economy.
The Bangladesh minister is scheduled to speak as a panelist at "The Scope and Prospects for the Development of broad Eurasian Partnership" session on the opening day.
Besides, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh and Russia will be signed in presence of the minister for the cooperation in energy sector.
On the sidelines of the SPIEF, the commerce minister will meet the ministers of CIS countries, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Sergei Prikhodko and Russian Commerce and Industries Minister Denis Valentinovich Manturov.
Chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on ministry of power, energy and mineral resources Dr Mohammad Abdur Razzaque and energy and mineral resources division secretary Nazimuddin Chowdhury will accompany the commerce minister.
Tofail Ahmed is likely to return home on June 6.
