Three killed in separate incidents in Panchagarh

Three people were killed in separate incidents in Panchagarh sadar and Tetulia upazilas on Tuesday.

In Tetulia upazila, a 50-year-old biker died while his son riding pillion was injured after being hit by a speeding truck on Panchagarh-Dhaka highway on Tuesday, police said.

The deceased Zahirul Islam was a resident of Lohakachi village of the upazila.

The agitated people blocked the road after the accident. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Abu Sayeem Miah, officer-in-charge of Tetulia Model police station.

The injured Enamul was admitted to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital. However, the truck driver managed to flee, he added.

In another incident, a man was beaten to death allegedly by his neighbours over a small matter in Burimutki area of Tetulia union of the upazila on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shahid,40, son of Mossharrof Hossain of the area.

According to police, a man named Salimuddin used to visit the house of a woman named Shanti Rani in Burimutki area of Sadar union of Tentulia upazila.

On Monday night, Shahid and his brother-in-law Saddam had an argument with Salimuddin over the matter. Following the incident, Salimuddin, along with his followers, allegedly thrashed the duo, leaving Shahid critically injured.

Shahid was rushed to Tetulia health Complex where he died while undergoing treatment there.

A murder case was filed at Tetulia Model police station, added the OC.

In Panchagarh sadar, a-40-year-old man was electrocuted to death at Azadpur area of Magura union on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam, son of late kanju Islam of the area.

Shahidul got an electric shock while trying to disconnect a TV cable in Azadpur area, said Abdul latif Miah, officer-in-charge of Panchagarh sadar police station.

He was rushed to Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, added the OC.
