Three killed, 20 injured in Bogra bus plunge

BOGRA, Apr 17, 2017 (BSS) - At least three people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Simabari Bazar in Sherpur upazila of the district early hours today.

The deceased were identified as Md Taraq, 29, Md Karim, 25, and Shaiful Islam, 35 residents of Saghata upazila of Gaibandha district, police said.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sherpur Thana police Mizanur Rahman, said the accident occurred when a Dhaka-bound bus from Gaibandha fell into the roadside ditch in the area around 1am as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the trio dead on the spot and 20 others injured.

On information, firefighting unit from Sherpur district rushed to the spot and rescued the injured.

The injured were admitted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College

Hospital and Sherpur Upazila Health Complex, police added.
