Teachers’ role important to attain goals of education: Nahid

DHAKA, May 31, 2017 (BSS) - Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid today laid emphasis on effective role of teachers in attaining goals of education.

"Teachers have to play a vital role in improving quality of education as the teachers' role is mostly important to attain the expected target of education," said the minister at an Iftar Mahfil in the city.

Dhaka Education Board arranged the Iftar mahfil at its office in the old part of the city with Board Chairman Professor Md Mahbubur Rahman in the chair, said a press release.

Nahid urged the teachers to become ideal personalities before the students so that they (students) could follow them and refrain from immoral activities.

Teachers are the prerequisite force to the country's future development, he said adding due to some dishonest teachers, the image of the teachers is being tarnished.

He said a section of teacher opt for tutoring privately for money instead of teaching in the classrooms. He stressed on building social awareness in this regard.

Secondary and Higher Education Division Secretary of the education ministry Md Sohrab Hossain, Madrasah and Technical Division acting Secretary Md Alamgir, Secondary and Higher Education Directorate (SHED) Director General Professor Dr S M Wahiduzzaman and Dhaka Education Board Secretary Md Shahedul Kabir spoke in the function.
