DHAKA- Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin
Sharmin Chaudhury has said 'TARA', a specialized banking service launched by the BRAC Bank, will play significant role in strengthening women empowerment in the country.
The Speaker said this as the chief guest while inaugurating the
specialized banking service for the women at a city hotel here on Thursday.
"TARA, a specialized banking programme for women, will take the BRAC programmes in an unusual height...new women entrepreneurs will be created by this banking service," said Dr Shirin Sharmin.
The women entrepreneurs will contribute in the financial system through connecting women with the banking sector, she told the opening function.
Recalling the government initiative for welfare of the women, Dr Shirin said "the government has taken initiative for women-friendly working environment and facilitate the women in employment sector."
BRAC founder Fazley Hasan Abed and Chief Executive and Managing Director of BRAC Bank Selim RF Hossain, among others, were present.
