The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism suggested taking tough action against those responsible for the technical glitch that caused emergency landing of a Biman flight carrying Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The committee at its 22nd meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here yesterday recommended stern action for the persons responsible for not checking the runway of the Hazrat Shahjahal International Airport before landing of another flight taking back the Prime Minister home on another occasion.
The committee advised the aviation ministry to take effective measures so Biman Bangladesh Airlines can avoid such unexpected incidents in future.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon attended the meeting, chaired by Farque Khan, chairman of the JS body.
Members of the committee Professor M Ali Ashraf and Tanvir Imam also attended the meeting.
