DHAKA, Jan 31, 2017 (BSS) - The country has buffer stock of urea fertilizer with 8,13,167 tonnes at different warehouses of Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).
"With daily production of on an average of 5,000 tonnes of urea, the country has sufficient stock of urea fertilizer till January 31", said an official release here today.
Besides, the government is importing fertilizer from Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), it said.
Currently about 27,500 tonnes of urea is also being unloaded at Mongla sea port while over 42,000 tonnes is waiting for unloading at the port.
Meanwhile, Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Factory (CUFL) will resume its production from February 12 after two years of suspension due to mechanical disruption.
A total of 13,78,670 tonnes of urea fertilizer were distributed among the farmers during June 2016 to January 2017.
