DHAKA, Stocks today closed the week upward with rising trend of all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher activities of largecap securities despite lower transactions.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 34.42 points up at 5,430.05. The bluechip DS30 and the Shariah DSES closed the week with 30.52 points up at 1,924.91 and with 12.55 points up at 1,245.83 respectively.
Out of the 355 issues traded at the DSE, 159 issues gained against 172 losing issues.
During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 18.45 percent to Taka 423.75 crore and the average trade volume fell by 22.13 percent to 12.21 crore shares.
The top five gainers of the week were Prime Finance First Mutual Fund, Runner Automobiles, Anlima Yarn Dyeing, National Polymer Industries and Genex Infosys Limited.
The major losing issues of the week were IPDC Finance Limited, Eastern Insurance Company Limited, AlHaj Textile Mills Limited, Sonar Bangla Insurance and Peoples Insurance Company.
The top five turnover leaders were United Power Generation and Distribution Company, JMI Syringes and Medical Devices, Square Pharmaceuticals, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and Fortune Shoes Limited.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up with its major CASPI index ending 119.65 points higher at 16,642.59.
