DHAKA, Stocks today closed the week flat with slightly upward trends of some major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges on higher transactions.
The broader DSEX of the DSE finished the week with 2.56 points up at 5,133.26. The bluechip DS30 also followed the same trend with 6.61 points up at 1,836.19. But, the Shariah DSES closed the day with 2.41 points down at 1,173.73.
During the week, the daily average trade value increased by 22.10 percent to Taka 399.68 crore and the average trade volume rose by 31.82 percent to 15.86 crore shares.
Out of the 356 issues traded on DSE, 153 gained against 185 losing issues.
The top five gainers of the week were SEML FBLSL Growth Fund, SEML IBBL Shariah Fund, Phoenix Finance 1st Mutual Fund, ICB AMCL First Agrani Bank Mutual Fund and Prime Bank 1st ICB AMCL Mutual Fund.
The major losing issues of the week were Meghna Pet Industries Limited, Bangladesh Industrial Finance Com Ltd, Heidelberg Cement Bangladesh, Pragati Life Insurance and Desh Garments.
The top five turnover leaders were Fortune Shoes, United Power Generation and Distribution Company, Square Pharmaceutical, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and National Life Insurance.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 10.95 points lower at 15,713.76.
