Speakers at a post-rally discussion here stressed on cooperatives movement for materializing the spirit of the War of Liberation for ensuring social security.
They urged for an effective means of attaining strength and prosperity in every spheres of life. So, there is no alternative to make the cooperatives movement a total success.
Department of Cooperatives and District Cooperatives Union jointly organized the discussion at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium in the city yesterday to mark the 45th National Cooperatives Day-2016. 'Cooperative's Philosophy is the Sustainable Development' was the main theme of the day.
Additional Commissioner (Development and ICT) of Rajshahi division Sultan Abdul Hamid and Joint Registrar of Divisional of Cooperatives Department Md Akhtaruzzaman addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ataul Gani in the chair. District Cooperative Officer Abul Monsur welcomed the participants.
Chief Guest Sultan Hamid said expansion of cooperatives is very important for obtaining socio-economic development, self-reliance and successful institutionalization of democracy. Mr Hamid urged the officials concerned to motivate and encourage the community people to form cooperatives so that they can get the path of improving their living and livelihood conditions.
Earlier, a colourful procession, participated by officials and employees of different government departments, leaders and activists of cooperative organisations, socio-cultural activists, civil society members and local elite, paraded the city streets.
