Speakers at a webinar focused on outcome-based education implementation so that students can leave educational institutions attaining key skills, or knowing how they can be attained as needed over the course of a career.
They urged outcome-based education to be implemented for enjoying employability. Skills that aid education implementation helped to achieve learners’ clarity, flexibility, comparison and involvement.
Dhaka School of Economics’ Entrepreneurial Economists club and Averroes International School jointly organized the webinar on ‘Outcome-based education implementation process undertaken by Bangladesh’, Sunday night.
The keynote speaker Dr. Mani Tyagi, associate professor at KIET Ghaziabad,Delhi, India, said that focusing and organizing a school’s entire programs and instructional efforts around the clearly defined outcomes was essential to this approach.
“We want all students to demonstrate when they leave school,” Tyagi said.
In his introductory remarks, Mohammad Anisur Rahaman Shohagh, principal, The Averroes International School, Dhaka argued that the advantage offered by outcome-based education is that students can understand what to expect, and teachers can understand what they need to demonstrate throughout the course.
Academic Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali appreciated the move towards outcome-based education and thanked the government for the initiative to implement it.
Prof Bholanath Dutta, IAF Veteran, joined as the special guest.
Sara Tasneem, Assistant Professor of Dhaka School of Economics, and Dr. Enamul Haque, head of Chemistry at Averroes International School, Dhaka also spoke.
