Speaker urges foreign investors to invest in Bangladesh

DHAKA, April 4, 2017 (BSS) - Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad and Chairperson of the executive committee of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury today urged the foreign investors to invest in the special economic zones in Bangladesh.

The Speaker made this call when parliamentary delegation chiefs from Bhutan, Iraq, Mexico, Canada, Georgia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China who are now participating in the 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference here called on Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury at her Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) office today.

The Speaker, also a Chairperson of IPU conference, urged the visiting parliamentary delegation chiefs to invest in jute goods, drug, readymade garment, power, renewable power, energy, ship building and leather industries sector under the special economic zones in Bangladesh.

About the zero tolerance of Bangladesh against terrorism, she said Bangladesh is now a role model of the world for carrying out campaign against terrorism and militancy under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
