Six die in Chittagong road accidents

CHITTAGONG, May 25, 2017 (BSS) - At least six persons were killed in separate road accidents here today.

Four passengers of a human hauler were killed and 10 others injured on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar Highway in Chandhanish upazila of the district in the afternoon.

However, identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Highway police said a Chittagong-bound truck collided head-on with a Satkania-bound human haulier around 4:20 pm, leaving four people dead on the spot and 10 others injured.

Police recovered the bodies from the spot and made vehicular movement smooth as a 10 kilometre-long tailback created on the both sides of the road soon after the accident. The injured persons were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), but condition of two injured were stated to be critical, police said.

Meanwhile, two persons were killed and seven others injured when a mini bus turned turtle on the road after knocking down a road divider in Saltgola rail crossing area, Bandar police station in the port city this morning.

The deceased were identified as Jashim, 30, and Mohammad Ali, 34.

Police said a Patenga-bound minibus from city's Baharddarhat turned turtle after hitting a road divider in the area, leaving two persons dead on the spot and seven others injured.

On information, police recovered the bodies from the spot.

Of the injured, two persons were admitted to the CMCH in critical condition.
