DHAKA, April 9, 2017 (BSS) - Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will ink the Teesta treaty like she signed Ganges water sharing deal.
"It's just a matter of time," he told a discussion in front of Awami League central office at Bangabandhu Avenue this afternoon.
The minister said Teesta Water Sharing Treaty has moved one step forward as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his hope that the treaty will be signed during the tenure of incumbent governments of both the countries.
Quader said those who sold their conscience to Pakistan, they will say the country has been sold through signing of the deals with India.
"BNP could not achieve anything from India because of their anti-Indian stance. Nothing can be attainted amid enmity," he said, adding that the incumbent government will achieve everything from India through friendly relations.
The minister requested BNP to go through the 22 deals and MoUs signed with India during the Prime Minister's visit to India visit as these deals were not secret.
"After going through the deals, you say logically how country has been sold. If you cannot prove this, you must apologize to the people," he said.
Quader said the anti-liberation forces had also termed the Bangabandhu's Land Boundary Agreement as an anti-state deal.
"After the signing of Chittagong Hill Tracts Peace Accord, BNP-Jamaat used to say from Feni to CHT will turn into a part of India. But it has been proved as falsehood before the countrymen," he said.
The minister said any deal will be signed for the sake of the country's interest and "We would not pay any heed to any such propaganda".
Quader thanked the Indian primer for showing highest respect to Bangladesh prime minister beyond protocols. "This honor is not for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, rather for the entire the nation," he added.
Awami Sechchhasebak League arranged the discussion marking the Mujibnagar Day with its president Mollah Md Abu Kawsar in the chair.
General Secretary of Sechchhasebak League Pankaj Debnath conducted the function.
