Seven doctors get bail over death of DU student

DHAKA, May 22, 2017 (BSS)-A court here today granted bail to eight people, including seven doctors, after they had surrendered before the court in a case filed over the death of a Dhaka University (DU) student at city's Central Hospital allegedly for wrong treatment.

Metropolitan Magistrate Khurshid Alam passed the order upon bail prayers filed by the accused.

Earlier on Wednesday, the case was lodged with Dhanmondi Police Station following the death of a first year student of Zoology Department of DU Afia Jahan Chaity, 20, at Central Hospital allegedly for wrong treatment.

Director of Central Hospital Dr MA Kashem, Consultant Lt Col (retd) Dr ASM Matlabur Rahman, Prof ABM Abdullah, Dr Murtaza, Dr Jahanara Begum, Dr Maksud Pervin, Dr Masuda Pervin, Dr Tapan Kumer Bairagi and Rashed Yusuf, were made accused in the case.

Earlier, Director of the hospital Dr MA Kashem got bail from the court.
