Security measures taken ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr in Khulna

Khulna Metropolitan police has taken strict security measures ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, likely to be celebrated on April 22.

"Check posts have already been set up in each upazila and shopping malls, and patrolling has been enhanced on highway in the district ahead of upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr," said Sushanta Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops), while speaking in the monthly meeting on law and order situation held at the deputy commissioner's office today.

The law enforcement agencies is working tirelessly to stop land grabbing and to help people lead a hassle free life, he said, adding that everybody should be aware of preventing cyber-crime.

Additional deputy police commissioner of Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) Sheikh Imran underscored the need to set up close circuit (CC) cameras at city's high-rise building.

Plain clothes police remains vigilant inside and outside at all shopping malls, and special police force has been on patrol at all the important places during the holy Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

He said cops recovered huge stolen motorcycle in last two months.

Deputy Director of Local government Department of Deputy Commissioner's Office Md Yousup Ali said government has taken all preventive measures to protect land grabbing through applying law.

He underscored the need for effective measures for plying three wheelers' vehicles on the streets to minimize traffic congestion in the city.

He emphasized on enhancing supervision at all kitchen markets for not selling adulterated foods, unhealthy and substandard vermicelli during the holy Ramadan and Eid.

Khulna deputy commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin presided over the meeting while Civil Surgeon Dr Sujat Ahmed, UNO's, Upazila Chairmen, among others, addressed.

In his welcome speech, Additional District Magistrate(ADM) Mir Alif Reza informed that a total of 214 cases were filed in nine upazila police stations in March, 58 cases more comparison to last February while 152 cases were filed in eight KMP Police Stations in March, 34 cases more comparison to last February.
