Secondary school teachers from Dhaka visited Friendship's Secondary Schools on 9 to 10 Oct 2016 in Paglar char, Batikamari, Nawshala, Khamar Banspata char of Gaibandha district. From this visit, the teacher will get a better understanding about the students and context which will help them design and conduct their classes more effectively in future. These teachers conduct classes through video lessons which are recorded in Dhaka and later shown to the students by classroom facilitators in Friendship's remote schools.
Respected teachers were Ms Zobaira Zahanara, a former teacher from Scholastica, Mr Md Mostafizur Rahman from Rifles Public School and Ms Rabeya Sultana from Biam Laboratory School. They conducted classes in the remote chars to get their feedback to the video lessons and better understand their difficulties and progress.
Friendship's Education sector commenced its secondary education under Gaibandha and Kurigram Districts in 2015 with an aim to run with computer-aided learning method, a first of its kind in the char areas in Bangladesh. Friendship has created an opportunity to access to education for secondary level's students who are unable or face difficulties to go to regular secondary schools otherwise.
From Friendship, Programme Manager of Education sector Mr Reza Ahmed, Programme Officer of Education sector Ms Nafisa Tarannum, Project Manager Mr Anwarul Islam and Project Officer Mr Mahabub Alam were present during the visit.
