SAFF U-20 Football: Bangladesh to play holders India on Wednesday

Last two times runners-up Bangladesh will play defending champions and giant rival India in their 2nd match of the five-nation SAFF U-20 Championship’2022 on Wednesday (July 27) at Kalinga Stadium in Indian city Bhubaneswar.

 

The match will kick-off at 4:30 pm (Bangladesh time) and 4 pm (Indian Time)

 

Last two time runners-up Bangladesh made a good start in the regional soccer meet beating Islanders Sri Lanka by 1-0 goal in one of the two opening day’s matches at the same venue Monday evening with substitute player Mirazul scoring the match winning goal in the 71st minute.

 

Earlier in the tournament’s opener, two times champions Nepal outplayed the Maldives by 4-0 goal at the same venue Monday afternoon.

 

 

Ahead of the Wednesday’s vital match, Bangladesh team, divided in two groups, made conditioning, gym, ice bath and pool session at the team hotel Tuesday morning

 

In the remaining matches, Bangladesh will play the Maldives on July 29 and Nepal on August 2.

 

Five South Asian nations โ€“ India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives and Sri Lanka– are taking part in this year’s fourth edition of the regional soccer meet.

 

After the league basis matches, top two teams will play in the final on August 5.

 

Nepal is the most successful nation in the meet winning the title twice while India lifted its first title in 2019 after beating two times runners-up Bangladesh.
