Defending champions Bangladesh lost for the first time in the three-nation SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship 2022 as they went down 1-0 to hosts India Saturday.

This was the first victory for India against Bangladesh in the SAFF U-18 Women’s Championship and also the second consecutive win for them in the ongoing tournament after a 7-0 thrashing of Nepal in the opening match.

Bangladesh tasted their maiden defeat after beating Nepal 4-2 in their tournament opener Thursday at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.

In the day’s hard-fought match, Nitu punished a defensive lapse from Bangladesh to score the match-winner for India in the 64th minute (1-0).

In the double league-based regional tournament, Bangladesh will play against Nepal again on March 23 and hosts India on March 25.
