DHAKA- Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu on Saturday said Russia will assist Bangladesh to form the National Quality and Technical Regulatory Council (BNQTC).
"Soon, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be inked between Bangladesh and Russia in this regard after reviewing the proposal of Russia," he said while meeting with Chief of the Russian Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology Boris Potemkin at Russian capital Moscow, said a press release here yesterday.
During the meeting, Amu said the Bangladesh government is accelerating quality industrialization under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina aimed at making the country middle-income one by 2021 and developed one by 2041.
Among others, Deputy Chief of the Russian Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology Gogolev Dmitry, Secretary-in-charge of the Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) M Mofizul Islam, Additional Secretary of Industries Ministry Begum Parag, Deputy Director of BNQTRC project M Anwarul Alam, Deputy Secretary of Industries Ministry M Kamrul Hasan and Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) to the Industries Minister FM Mahmud were present in the meeting.
A six-member delegation led by Amir Hossain Amu visited Russia with a view to gathering experiences for establishing BNQTC in the country.
The delegation is also now visiting Germany and United Kingdom (UK).
During the Germany tour, the team will visit German Association for Quality tomorrow and German Institute for Standardization on April 26.
During the UK tour, they will visit the British Standards Institution (BSI) on April 28. They will also exchange views with high officials of those institutes.
The minister is scheduled to return home on May 1.
