DHAKA, Jan 30, 2017 (BSS) - The High Court today issued a rule asking authorities concerned to explain why it shall not order making a law for the formation of Election Commission (EC).
"A High Court division bench comprising Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order asking cabinet secretary, law secretary and the EC to reply to the rule within four weeks," said advocate Eunus Ali Akand, who filed a writ petition in this regard.
The petitioner moved the plea by himself today, while deputy attorney general Motaher Hossain Saju stood for the state.
Akand filed the writ on January 11, challenging the legitimacy of the search committee formed by the President. The High Court, however, refrained from passing any order on search committee today.
