RU sets to hold its 11th convocation tomorrow

RAJSHAHI All sorts of necessary preparations have

been completed to hold eleventh convocation -2019 of Rajshahi University (RU)

here on Saturday.

Entire campus of the university has already been turned into a new look

with massive decoration, painting and cleanliness efforts ahead of the great

event.

President and RU Chancellor M Abdul Hamid is scheduled to preside over

the convocation while Vice-chancellor of Vidyasagar University in West Bengal

of India Professor Ranjan Chakrabarty will attend it as convocation speaker.

Education minister Dr Dipu Moni will attend as special guest on the

occasion, to be held at RU's Sheikh Kamal Stadium at 3.30 pm.

RU Vice-chancellor Prof Abdus Sobhan revealed this while talking to BSS

here today detailing the preparation process.

He said a total of 3,432 graduates registered their names in the

convocation. Of them, 666 are from 10 departments under arts faculty, 89 from

law department under law faculty, 377 from eight departments under science

faculty, 505 from four departments under business studies faculty, 582 from

nine departments under social science faculty, 310 from six departments under

life and earth science faculty, 85 from four departments under agriculture

faculty, 135 from five departments under engineering faculty and 43 from two

departments under fine arts faculty. Six other graduates have also

registered their names for post-graduation, M.Phil and PhD degrees while 511

for MBBS and 123 for BDS degrees in the convocation.

Prof Sobhan also said some 16 sub-committees including a reception

committee and a steering committee are working relentlessly to complete the

convocation successfully and preparations to this end have already been

completed.
