Road accidents leave 4 dead in 2 districts

Four people were killed in road accidents in Gaibandha and Dinajpur districts on Tuesday midnight and Wednesday morning.

 

In Gaibandha, Milon Miah, son of Jalal Uddin Kalu Mia of Rudranagar village in Shibpur union of Gobindganj upazila, was killed when a sand-laden truck hit his motorcycle in Charmatha area of Gobindganj town Tuesday midnight.

 

The accident occurred around 12am when the truck hit Milon’s motorcycle when he was going home after closing his shop, leaving him seriously injured.

 

Locals rescued him and took him to Gobindganj Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead, officer-in-charge of Gobindganj police station Izar Uddin said.

 

Police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee, added the OC.

 

Meanwhile, three people were killed in road accidents in Dinajpur’s Birampur and Birganj upazilas on Wednesday morning.

 

In Birampur, a man and a woman who were on a motorbike were killed when a BRTC bus rammed their motorbike in Beldanga More area this morning.

 

The deceased were identified as Sohel ,38, son of Lokman of Railkoli in Dinajpur and Arohi Selina,28, daughter of Rustam Ali of Sipahi Para.

 

The accident occurred when Rangpur-bound BRTC bus hit the motorcycle around 8:45am, leaving them dead on the spot, said Babul Islam, sub-inspector of Birampur police station.

Another motorcyclist was killed as a covered van hit his vehicle in Dinajpur’s Birganj upazila Wednesday morning.

 

The deceased was Hazrat Ali, 56, son of late Belal Hossain, a resident of Pradhanabad village of Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district, said Ashraful Islam, Deputy Inspector of Birganj Police Station.
