Raushon Ershad taken to Bangkok for better treatment

Opposition Leader Raushon Ershad on Friday was taken to the Thai capital of Bangkok for better medical treatment.

She was taken by an air ambulance at 6:25pm where she will be admitted to the Bumrungrad Hospital, her assistant private secretary Md Mamum Hasan told UNB.

Jatiya Party chief patron Raushon is accompanied by Rahgir Almahe Ershad MP (Rangpur-3) and his wife Mahima Ershad.

Raushon Ershad, 78, had been under treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) as she fell ill seriously due to old age complications several months ago.

One drowns, another missing in boat capize in Chandpur

A woman drowned and another was missing as a boat sank after being hit by a launch in Meghna River near Dakatia of Chandpur on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Rojina Begum, 50. The missing was Nasima Begum, 30.

Additional Superintendent of Police Belayet Hossain said the boat sank after it was hit by Dhaka-bound passenger launch MV Lamia.

Police rushed to the spot and rescued Khadiza and her two-year old son (Abrar), Shah Poran, 7.

Meanwhile, the launch was detained along with its driver, Belayet confirmed.
