Rangpur in talks with Shehzad, Musa set to join Chattogram

DHAKA Rangpur Rangers is in talks with former Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad after West Indies batsman Shai Hope confirmed his non-availability for the whole Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL).

Shai Hope who was West Indies' best player in the side's last tour in Bangladesh was picked up by Rangpur in the draft.

But later he informed the Rangpur management that he can only play for one week of the tournament.

Rangpur Rangers technical director Habibul Bashar Sumon said that they are going for like-to-like replacement and in that case Shehzad seemed to be best option.

We haven't found any big player but we are thinking about Ahmed Shehzad. At the same time we have also spoken with some cricketers and kept our options open. Some big names may also come and play for us, Bashar said.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Musa the new fast bowler from Pakistan has agreed to play for the Chattogram challengers in the Bangabandhu BPL, that is set to kick-off on December 11.

Musa is part of Pakistan squad in their ongoing series in Australia. He had already made his T20 and Test debut. Chattogram Challengers have signed Lendl Simmons and Chris Gayle during the draft but Gayle's recent comment that he doesn't know about how his name is drafted left them in tricky situation.

However, Musa will be pairing with local paceman Rubel Hossain for Challengers. He will also get his fellow country man Imad Wasim in the dressing room.

Paul Nixon is the head coach of Chattogram Challengers. He is two times CPL Champion and Head Coach of Leicestershire County Club. Former English fast bowler Kabir Ali is the bowling coach of the Chattogram Challengers team.
