Rangpur fish market declared formalin free

RANGPUR, Rangpur Sadar Upazila Fisheries Office officially declared CO Bazar Fish Market formalin free at a function held there in the city on Thursday evening.

Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer of Sadar upazila Agriculturist Minara Hafiza Ferdous made the declaration while presiding over the function.

A good number of fisheries traders and officials of local fisheries office, among others, were present at the function.

Sadar Upazila Chairman Nasima Zaman Boby, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ishraat Sadiya Sumi, Member of Rangpur District Council Sirajul Islam and Chairman of Saddyapuskorini union parisahd Alhaj Md. Sohel Rana also attended the function.

Agriculturist Minara discussed various steps taken by the government regarding strict restrictions and rules and regulations for ensuring supply of formalin-free fish as well as other food stuffs.

The UNO sounded a note of warning against the unscrupulous traders and asked them to stop marketing of formalin-mixed fish. Otherwise, they have to face exemplary punishment, he added.

Nasima asked the fish traders to shun harmful practices including mixing formalin with fishes for protecting human health from its negative impact.
