RANGPUR, Jan 21, 2017 (BSS) - State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga, MP, has distributed 10,000 pieces of blankets among the cold hit people of Gangachara upazila of the district.
The State Minister distributed the blankets among the cold-affected poor and distressed people of all ages from his own fund at a ceremony held in Gangachara upazila parishad premises on Friday afternoon as the chief guest.
Noted social worker Mrs Rakiba Nasrine, Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aminul Islam, President of Gangachara upazila Jatiya Party Shamsul Islam, Laksmitari union Chairman Al Hadi, political leaders and local elite were present.
On the occasion, Ranga said that he distributed the blankets to assist the cold-hit poor and distressed people of Gangachara upazila situated on the Teesta river basin for reducing their sufferings caused by shivering cold wave.
He called upon affluent people of the society to come forward, alongside the government and non- government organisations and institutions, to stand beside the distressed people of the cold-hit areas to mitigate their sufferings.
